Immigration and Naturalization Applications

Our firm regularly represents persons before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). We represent U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents in filing:

  • I-129F fiancee petitions

  • I-130 and I-730 petitions for alien relatives

  • I-360 petitions for victims of domestic violence/extreme cruelty and for unaccompanied minors

  • I-485 applications to adjust status to permanent residence

  • DS-230 immigrant visa applications

  • I-601 waivers of inadmissibility

  • I-212 applications for permission to reapply for admission after removal

  • I-751 petitions to remove conditional status on permanent residence

  • I-90 applications to renew or replace a permanent resident card

  • N-400 applications for naturalization to U.S. citizenship

  • Other immigration applications (but we do NOT take employment-based cases)

Often, we represent persons seeking these benefits when there is a potential ground of ineligibility or deportability. For example, a permanent resident applying to renew a permanent resident card or for naturalization may be concerned about a criminal conviction. We also represent persons applying for adjustment of status or an immigrant visa where there is a potential ground of inadmissibility, such as for past unlawful presence in the United States or misrepresentation.

However, we also welcome less complex cases where the applicant prefers the assistance of an experienced professional with the various forms and procedures.

Our representation includes an analysis of your eligibility for the benefit sought, guidance in collecting the necessary evidence, form preparation, and attorney representation if any problems arise. In cases where an interview is necessary, the attorney also prepares you for the interview. Additionally, you have the option of attorney attendance and representation at your USCIS interview.

Scott Mossman's practice is limited to federal immigration and citizenship law, with an emphasis on removal (deportation) defense, appeals, and federal court litigation. In removal cases, he only represents persons within the Ninth Circuit (Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, the Mariana Islands, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington) and usually only if the hearing will occur, or has occurred, in the San Francisco Immigration Court. That Court has jurisdiction over San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, and the rest of Northern California from Redding to Bakersfield. Scott Mossman represents persons on immigration and naturalization applications to USCIS if the applicant or petitioner lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He represents persons on appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) in USCIS petition and waiver cases arising throughout the world.

Scott Mossman is a licensed attorney and active member of the State Bar of California.
